What’s a Cleansing Balm?
It’s a balm to oil cleanser that melts when in contact with skin & water. Cleansing balm helps to break down makeup & remove dirt, impurities & SPF from our skin. It emulsifies just like an oil cleanser when mixed with water. Some enjoy the texture of a balm whilst some prefers the smoothness of an oil cleanser. Which category are you in?
It’s been a hot minute since I last incorporated cleansing balm in my night routine. Don’t get me wrong. I love cleansing balm. In fact, I was such a huge fan of the cult-favourite Heimish All Clean Balm where I’ve emptied around 5 tubs of that goodness! However, being a curious skincare enthusiast, I started trying out oil cleansers & realized that I enjoy the smoothness & richness of an oil cleanser more.
So when Natta Cosme generously sent over the I’m From Fig Cleansing Balm for me to try out in exchange for my review a couple of months ago, my old love for cleansing balm rekindled again. I immediately fell in love with the gentleness of the beautiful balm & here’s why
Formulated with 7.8% of Fig oil water which is rich in vitamin & polyphenol, this sherbet-like I’m From Cleansing Balm is designed to effectively melt & remove makeup, leaving the skin silky smooth with a hydrating finish while helping with blackhead care. It’s hypoallergenic & claims to be safe for sensitive skin.
Full Ingredients – Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Polyethylene, Synthetic Wax, Ficus carica (fig) Fruit Extract, Peg-10 Isostearate, Peg-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Fragrance, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Curcuma longa (turmeric) Root Extrac, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Melia Azadirachta Leaf extract, Melia Azadirachta Bark Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract
Contains 100ml of product that sits beautifully in a matte tub, underneath a lid that I personally think is quite flimsy. Sitting on top of the lid is a spatula to help with scooping.
Very smooth & easy to scoop with the spatula that is included in the packaging. It feels almost like digging into a soft candle.
There is definitely scent (which I am not sure if its fig because I’ve never smelled one) which isn’t too overpowering for me. I’ve read some people mentioning that it can be quite strong but I personally think its alright. It’s very faint.
How To Use?
Scoop an adequate amount (pea-sized dollop would do) and spread the balm onto the face. I like to start with my cheeks. Slowly massage on the skin & let the balm melt your makeup away. Add a few drops of water & let it emulsify to further break down the makeup. Rinse off with water. Click here to view a short IG video of me using the product.
Having tried only cleansing balm from Heimish, I can only compare my experience using the I’m From Cleansing Balm with Heimish All Clean Balm. It definitely feels more gentle on the skin as compared to the latter, with less waxier feel & scent. Heimish does the same job but a tad bit less moisturising, in my honest opinion. This doesn’t sting my eyes and removes my makeup effectively (I usually wear suncreen, base makeup, concealer, eyeliner, the full deal haha), except for waterproof mascara. It emulsifies really easily & I had no issue washing it off. It does not leave any waxy residue behind, but to only leave the skin all supple & soft.

The price tag can be quite hefty so wait for sale! Would I repurchase? Hmm, maybe not. Not because its a bad product. I actually prefer this than Heimish, honestly. It ticks all the right boxes on how a balm should perform but I think I’m more of an oil cleanser kinda person now.
