If there’s only one skincare ingredient you can pick, what would it be?
We’ve heard of niacinamide, Squalane, Centella Asiatica, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, Vitamin A… and the list goes on. But have you heard of Beta-Glucan? This ingredient, surprisingly, if one does not notice, might find this new but it’s actually present in quite a number of famous skincare brand/products such as Klairs, iUnik, The Plant Base, Benton & so on.
Meet Mixsoon, which also means Pure Blend (direct translation), a new smart beauty brand hails all the way from Korea. Mixsoon carries 100% single-ingredient skincare products (mostly essences for now) such as Centella Asiatica, Mung Bean Seed, Galactomyces, Noni Fruit, Beta Glucan, just to name a few. What’s Beta Glucan?
Derived from barley, mushroom, yeast, oats or seaweed, beta glucan is a well-known humectant that draws water to the skin to deeply hydrate & plump the skin, repairs skin damage & rich in anti-aging properties by promoting collagen synthesis. Sounds like a winner, doesn’t it?
To be honest, I initially thought I’m new to this wonderful skincare ingredient but turns out, I’m not. This power ingredient was a part of the few skincare products I’ve tried in the past & I’m so glad to be able to try out this in a 1-ingredient formulation, kindly gifted by Mixsoon team.
What’s great about 1-ingredient skincare is that you can easily spot which ingredient works best for your skin & what doesn’t. Well with that said, I know now my skin ADORES beta glucan because it feels so plump after every use! I did not expect such plumpness because this looks and feels exactly like the water with just a little slight slip to it.
The hole is quite big so pour with care. This works better when poured directly onto the palm or directly on the skin. I definitely felt a difference as compared to using this w/ a cotton pad, which fails to deliver that splash of hydration as compared to using palm. It has a slip to it when applied to the skin, like a good coat of hydration 💦
It’s unscented so no worries to those who are not a fan of scented products. Because of its lightweight consistency, this works well for both morning & night skincare routine.
If you have dry skin, or simply looking for something to plump up your dull skin, I highly recommend checking this one out!
It’s priced at RM128/100ml which can be expensive as compared to other essences. Personally, I think this can last you for awhile seeing only 3-4 drops is more than enough each use, well at least for me (I have oily skin type)
