One Brand Review – Lagom Skincare

“Not too little, not too much”

Lagom

Today, let me share with you an in-depth review of one of my top most wish-listed K-Beauty brands in my book – Lagom. Created by 12 experts (makeup artists, scientists & skincare experts), Lagom aims to restore our skin’s natural balance by infusing essential ingredients in their skincare products for healthy, balanced skin. All Lagom’s products are formulated with DermaFlux, a hero ingredient that has won Nobel Prize, made to deliver lasting, deep hydration deep into our skin layers. Lagom’s skincare is also a proud cruelty-free brand.

I received a couple of Lagom’s best-sellers, kindly gifted by Stylekorean team in exchange for my honest reviews, so here goes!

Note: all the products I am reviewing contains Essential Oil (EO) therefore if you are sensitive to EOs, please take note. For context, I have oily skin & my skin is not sensitive to EOs.

Lagom Cellup Gel to Water Cleanser

When I read “Gel to Water Cleanser” on the packaging, I didn’t give it much thought… perhaps hmm, just buzzwords… until I tried it for the first time. This one-of-a-kind cleanser dispenses in gel form but once it touches the skin, it literally melts onto the skin & felt as though you’re just rubbing water on your face, with just a slight slip to it. It doesn’t lather or foam up even one bit on my skin, regardless of the amount of water I mix this with. A very interesting texture indeed… Click here to see a video application & how it doesn’t foam up on my hand.

My skin feels smooth but not stripped, which is why this is now my daily morning cleanser. I am that person that skips morning cleanser & hops right it with toner + cotton pad but ever since I discovered this cleanser, it’s a staple in my morning routine now.

The transparent jelly texture makes washing my face a fun experience & the tube is huge! Definitely will last me for a couple of months. This cleanser has a refreshing citrus note, which is one of my most favourite scents when it comes to skincare. Some key ingredients infused in this cleanser are jojoba seed oil, lemon fruit oil, bergamot fruit oil, rose oil and a couple more essential oils.

Ingredients List – Water,Glycerin,Butylene Glycol,Hydrogenated Polydecene,Cetyl Ethylhexanoate,Cetearyl Alcohol,Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride,Panthenol,Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate,Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil,Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil,Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil,Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil,Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil,Myrothamnus Flabellifolia Callus Culture Extract,Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil,Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein,Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil,Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Water,1,2-Hexanediol,Dimethicone,Hydrogenated Lecithin,Jojoba Esters,Cetearyl Glucoside,Polyacrylate-13,Hydroxyacetophenone,Polymethylsilsesquioxane,Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer,Polyisobutene,Caprylyl Glycol,Synthetic Beeswax,Polysorbate 20,Sorbitan Isostearate,Citric Acid,Sodium Citrate,Sodium Hyaluronate,Indole Acetic Acid,Maltodextrin,Tocopherol,Propanediol,Vegetable Amino Acids,Pentylene Glycol,Ceramide NP,Phytosphingosine,Polyglutamic Acid,Xanthan Gum,Disodium EDTA,Potassium Benzoate

Will I repurchase this? A solid YES! The price is quite steep for a cleanser, so wait for sales, I shall. I will personally recommend this to most skin types (except if you are sensitive to EO), especially if you’re on the lookout for a gentle morning cleanser.

Lagom Cellus Mist Toner

Facial mists! You either love it or find it as a redundant skincare step to have in your routine. I was not a fan of mist toners until recent years where I’ve tried a couple of Korean facial mists & immediately fell in love with how soft & fine their mists are. Lagom’s Mist Toner is no exception. This too dispenses very gentle, fine mist & evenly distributes the products on the face with just 2-3 spritz. Like all Lagom’s products, this mist toner is also formulated w/ Dermaflux.

I truly enjoyed my time with this mist. For my morning routine, I’ll use this right after cleansing with 2-3 spritz before my toner step. 2 layers of this baby is more than enough to prep my skin. Oh did I mention that this too, smells like citrus? The scent dissipates quickly after application, so no worries there. There are a couple of Essential Oils used in this mist. Notable ingredients are green tea extract, rose oil, moringa oil, bergamot fruit oil, grapefruit oil, orange oil, just to name a few

Ingredients List – Water, Butylene Glycol, Propanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Pentylene Glycol, C12-14 Pareth-12, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugarcane) Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Sodium Citrate, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Citric Acid, Panthenol, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Xanthan Gum, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Camellia Sinensis Callus Culture Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Maltodextrin, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil, Moringa Pterygosperma Seed Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Ligularia Fishceri Leaf Extract

Will I repurchase this? Most probably not. As much as I enjoyed this, the price tag doesn’t sit quite right in my facial mist budget. I’ll personally recommend this to normal to oily skin type as this might not be as hydrating for dry skin.

Lagom Cellus Mild Moisture Cream

This was the first product I tried when I received my parcel. The sleek white, matte packaging, albeit a little bulky for a moisturiser, attracted me the most. Lagom offers a few different moisturisers, mostly in tub form, but I am so glad they included this one in the PR package because it’s such a wonderful product!

The texture of this cream is just oh-so-wonderful. It’s quite opaque & occlusive, which reminds me of shea butter hand cream but this spreads on my skin like a dream. As I have oily skin type, a little of this moisture cream goes a long way. It is non-greasy & never fails to leave my skin chok chok, well moisturised & plump! The finishing is slightly dewy on my skin & the absorption takes a little longer as compared to my other cream moisturisers, so I only reach for this at night.

This too has the same refreshing citrus scent as the rest but this smells even more heavenly, in my personal opinion. Once it dries down, I do pick up a whiff of sandalwood, which is a part of their ingredients list. Sandalwood is my ultimate favourite scent, so definitely no complaints here!

Ingredients List – Water, Propanediol, Glycerin, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate,Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Beta-Glucan, Camellia Sinensis Callus Culture Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Xanthan Gum, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Lecithin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Butylene Glycol, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract, Maltodextrin, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Panthenol, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Urea, Indole Acetic Acid, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Dimethicone, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobutene, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Polysorbate 20, Sorbitan Isostearate, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Myristic Acid, Geranium Maculatum Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Rose Flower Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil, Styrax Benzoin Gum, Commiphora Myrrha Oil, Citric Acid, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol

Will I repurchase? Yes, BUT ONLY when this is on sale as it is pretty expensive… I would personally recommend this for my normal to oily skin girls & guys out there. If you have dry skin, they have a deep moisture version that is curated for those with drier skin.

Price: $41 (before sale. Currently, it’s on 50%, so it’s only $18!)

Lagom Cellus Sensitive Cica Powder

First, there’s Cica cream, then Cica serum… and then there’s Cica powder. Oh, the power of skincare science. I’ve seen & heard about Cica powder but this was my first time trying out one!

Cutest among all its giant sisters, this lil’ one contains 8g of Cica powder that can be mixed with other skincare products to help soothe skin’s irritation, redness or to control sebum production. The powder itself is very fine in texture & unscented. I love the mini packaging but the opening is a tad bit too big in my opinion, making it hard for the powder noobie in me to control the amount I want to dispense

When I tested this out, my skin wasn’t red nor inflamed but I do occasionally get itchiness around my cheek and forehead area. This works well, both mixed in my moisturiser and as a spot treatment in stopping the itchiness but I can’t justify much on soothing redness on the skin. In terms of sebum control, wow, it really does that job well, a bit too well, lol. I have oily skin & this turned my skin ultra-matte even when I mixed it with a moisturiser that tends to give me a little dewy look. So with that, I wouldn’t say this is the best for dry skin.

It dissolves well with my face cream but because I find it hard for me to control the amount to dispense out, a little too much of this powder will disrupt the spreadability of my cream, if that makes sense? My face cream doesn’t spread as smoothly as it used to be. Great to note that this does not give me any white cast.

This is not something I reach for on a daily basis but a nice addition to my skincare routine when I want a quick soothing effect. I personally find this product a tricky one for me so I will not be repurchasing it. Cica powder is definitely targeting a niche market as I’ve seen people enjoying its benefits. So, YMMV!
