If you are looking for a beautiful hotel with old school heritage vibes and with a strategic location, look no further.
During our 3D2N stay at Malacca, one of the Malaysia’s oldest cities filled with Peranakan heritage, we stayed at Liu Men by Préférence Hotels by TAUZIA. Which is under Ascott Limited, a Singaporean leading international lodging owner-operators- with many other hotel brands such as Somerset, Ascott, Citadines etc.
Liu Men is strategically located at Jalan Tokong, the street parallel to Jonker Walk where it offers accessibility to the famous tourist attractions and food sites but also far enough to offer some peace and quiet during the night.

It has its own private parking for hotel guests and upon checking in, we were offer welcome drinks – a complimentary choice of coffee or tea as we soak in the beautiful architecture of the dining area.
I love the design! Its tinted glass ceilings meant it was well lit by natural sunlight but not too hot for guests to lounge. This would also be where guests would have their hotel breakfast which offers a choice of local dishes such as Nasi Lemak, Lontong, and Pratha.
I felt that the breakfast service and choices were just alright but being in a city that offers so many good food, I happily reserved my tummy space for our gastronomical trail outdoors 🙂

The theme and beauty of architecture extends to the interior of the room! Well designed with touches of colonial style meets old school Malaya. The bed was super comfy and pillows were fluffy too.
There is also a couch to lounge at, also boasting natural sunlight similar to the lobby.

I really liked the bathroom. It’s spacious and the shower heads had a certain weight to it that reminded me of those old-school telephones. It all felt really lux and all toiletries were from L’Occitane.
In the evening, for the first night there was a turn down service and complimentary snacks were provided. In fact, all of the drinks in the refigerator were complimentary.
We paid about RM750 per night for the Kapitan Double Room and I think it’s well worth it!
Though I am keen to try out different hotels in Malacca for comparison but I truly enjoyed my stay here.
