One Brand Review – bewants Korean Skincare

Hello everyone!

It’s been a while since I’ve sat down and blogged. With work and everything happening in life, I find it hard to squeeze in some time to properly sit down and tap away… but here I am today, sharing one of the prettier pink skincare products in my stash (who doesn’t love cute packaging, amirite) – introducing bewants, a Korean skincare brand that combines the art of Cica (also known as Centella Asiatica) and Collagen as their main ingredients in their skincare range

The packaging and millennial pink are totally up my alley

Now let’s dive into the products, their full ingredients list (retrieved from Olive Young and/or Amazon website) and my honest opinions.

bewants Cica Collagen Essence Toner

Key Features

It contains 85% Centella Asiatica extract to calm and soothe skin, 3 types of hyaluronic acid to deliver extra hydration, and its patented Cica Collagen, which is plant-based collagen rich in amino acids and proteins.

Full Ingredients (extracted from Stylekorean website)

Centella asiatica extract (85%), dipropylene glycol, glycerin, niacinamide, 1,2-hexanediol, pentylene glycol, kelp extract, nasturtium leaf extract, perilla elm root extract, mandrake seed extract, Mexican Chia Seed Extract, Stone Bean Extract, Red Clover Extract, Orange Peel Oil, Lemon Peel Oil, Bergamot Oil, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Peppermint Oil, Ginger Oil, Lee Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citronella Oil, Purified Water, Glycereth-26, diglycerin, octyldodeceth-16, butylene glycol, sodium citrate, citric acid, xanthan gum, adenosine, disodium EDTA, fructooligosaccharides, beta-glucan, collagen ( 11.2ppm), hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, leuconostoc/non-fermented filtrate, methyl propanediol, propanediol, arginine, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vpicopolymer, tetrahydro Piperine, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Phloretin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Limonene, Linalool

Texture

Watery texture, non-sticky finishing. Layerable (2-3 times max). Slightly sweet-scented.

My Thoughts

Unfortunately, this toner is a little underwhelming for me. Perhaps I was expecting a better hydration since the name has essence in it but its watery, albeit layerable, still feels insufficient for my skin. Perhaps now that I am older and need more hydration boost. I like how the dry down is non-sticky but if you have very sensitive skin, you may want to skip this as it is scented (slightly sweet but not too overwhelming). I’d rate this 3.5 / 5

bewants Cica Collagen Moisture Serum

Key Features

Contains 67% plant-derived collagen extract to firm skin inside out whilst providing a long-lasting moisture balance. Hyaluronic acid plumps the skin, a lovely ingredient for all skin types. Niacinamide to brighten overall skin tone.

Texture

Not very watery, not too rich. A nice in-between the two textures, leaning towards the heavier consistency, if that makes sense?

Full Ingredients (extracted from Stylekorean website)

Collagen extract (67%), methylpropanediol, glycerin, polyglycerin-3, purified water, niacinamide, caprylic/capric triglyceride, centella asiatica extract (1.9%), 1,2-hexanediol, oats Kernel extract, artichoke leaf extract, nasturtium leaf extract, bladderwrack extract, stone bean extract, kelp extract, honey grass extract, Mexican chia seed extract, red clover extract, green tea water, bergamot oil, orange peel oil, lemon peel oil, citro Nella Oil, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Lee Seed Oil, Peppermint Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ginger Oil, Adenosine, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Arginine, Beta-Glucan, Butylene Glycol , carbomer, collagen (11.2ppm), disodium EDTA, fructooligosaccharide, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, leuconostoc/unfermented filtrate, phenyltrimethicone, phloretin, poly Quaternium-51, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Propanediol, Tetrahydropiperine, Tromethamine, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Limonene

My Thoughts

While I am unable to claim its efficacy on anti-ageing as this takes a longer time to show, I do love how my skin feels the morning after – plump, hydrated & poreless. Works hand in hand with the cream! I have oily skin and I use very little of this, otherwise, it can be too “heavy”, especially in a hot, humid room. The dry down isn’t sticky but takes a longer time to absorb compared to other serums. The downside is that it is not suitable for sensitive skin because it smells similar to the toner – a slightly sweet, citrusy scent which may be a trigger for those with super sensitive skin. I’d rate this 4 / 5.

Texture

Light, gel-cream consistency

Full Ingredients (extracted from Olive Young website)

Water, Centella Asiatica Extract (10.7%), Glycerin, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Niacinamide, Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Collagen Extract (1%), Ganoderma Lucidum (Mushroom) Stem Extract, Salvia Hispanica Seed Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Trifolium Pratense (Clover) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Litsea Cubeba Fruit Oil, Cymbopogon Nardus (Citronella) Oil, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Isostearyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol Cocoate, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Ethylcellulose, Collagen (112ppm), Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Propanediol, Methylpropanediol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Tetrahydropiperine, Phloretin, Arginine, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Hydroxyacetophenone, Ethylhexylglycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Limonene, Linalool

My Thoughts

As much as I find it a hassle to keep wiping the metal tip after each use, I really enjoy the massage experience and how plump my skin feels after. I admit that I’m lazy to use the old-school guasha every night but this makes it really easy to incorporate some facial massage + simple skincare steps in one! Definitely made for lazy peeps like me, hehe. The cream is not sticky and quite light, making it really nice to glide this all over the skin and neck. This has tons of plant-derived essential oils and shares the same scent as the toner and serum, so skip if you have sensitive skin – especially to EO or fragrance. I’d rate this 4 / 5.

My Thoughts

Easily one of my top favourite eye serums! I love this new design – easy, convenient & helps to depuff + massage our under eyes. The roller ball is always cold & the serum itself isn’t sticky and scentless. Don’t press too much or you’ll waste too much product, and it kinda stings the eyes if the serum enters (happened once because I got too excited & squeezed a lil’ wee too much on my first try). It’s a 5 / 5 for me.

Overall Thoughts

I think they’re lovely, though nothing super revolutionary to shout about except their packaging (I’m just a fan of the baby pink shade haha). My favourite is definitely the eye cream and lifting cream – you can see that I really enjoy the convenience of massaging tools incorporated into skincare hehe. I personally think this Cica Collagen range is not suitable for those with sensitive skin type, especially towards fragrances and plant oils, which gives the product a nice citrusy scent. I personally love these types of scents in my skincare, but I understand it is not for everyone. I’d recommend this for the more mature crowds, or simply those in your early 30s, experimenting with anti-ageing skincare. Better suited for normal to dry skin type.

Till the next post! xx
