Cafe

Salad Farm, Penang

A fairly new cafe in Penang, Salad Farm is undoubtedly one of the best post-hiking or post-workout spot for a healthy, protein-packed meal. Located nearby Penangnite’s favourite place to jog & hike – the Botanical Garden, this quaint Insta-worthy spot is definitely worth checking out after a good hiking session with your friends or family.

Entrance of Salad Farm. Located right beside Big Ben Breakfast

There are ample of parking space nearby the cafe, so one problem off the list. The cafe is located right beside the new Big Ben Breakfast (which by the way, looks so much prettier now!).

The outlook looks like a mini greenhouse. Once inside, the interior is very minimal, clean & has the perfect temperature to cool down (I’m not a fan of cold places). The place was cozy & spacious w/ both indoor & outdoor seating.

The menu is displayed aesthetically on the wall but they do provide printed menu if you want to hang around your table before deciding on what to eat.

Despite the name Salad Farm, one would expect more vegetarian options. On my first glance, I couldn’t spot much vegetarian options (most dishes has meat for proteins) but they’re able to customize for you upon request. Just speak to the server & they’re more than happy to help.

Here’s what we ordered:

Mush Much Salad w/ Tempeh & Balsamic Vinaigrette
I was on a vegetarian diet, so I opted for tempeh instead of grilled chicken. The tempeh was crunchy & tasted very nutty, which I really enjoyed. Loved the roasted pumpkins & homemade balsamic vinaigrette.

Protein Lover w/ Grilled Chicken
the homemade pesto sauce was yummy. Loved the char-grilled broccoli.

SF Breakfast Set
Your typical standard breakfast set that will satisfy your protein & fiber cravings all in one serving. It was ok. Not the greatest, but not the worst. It was OK.

Very Strawberry Yoghurt
The sweetness was just right. Though it was packed with berry goodness but we couldn’t taste much yogurt & is a lil’ diluted in my honest opinion.

Tropical Mango Tea
Loved it! A great thirst quencher, especially after a long hike. Tasted just like summer in a cup.

All in all, we had a decent experience there. There were no customers when we were there, so we had the place all to ourselves. Go ahead, pop by and support local businesses, especially during this unprecedented times. Their food can be a lil overpriced (approximately RM30/person for food & drinks) but you can taste the freshness in the ingredients used. Oh, and they’re on Grabfood too if you prefer home delivery.
